A Short Story

Why are so many mothers doing it alone? Over their lunch break, Lanie and RaKisha dive into a conversation that’s as honest as it is overdue. From single motherhood to fractured families, they unpack the quiet struggles and unspoken truths behind the rising number of women raising children on their own.

Told through sharp dialogue and raw reflection, this short story explores the choices, circumstances, and cultural shifts that shape modern motherhood—and the generational impact of decisions made in the moment.

A Novel

Jocelyn falls head over heels in love and finally becomes Mrs. Baker, but married life isn’t what she’d always imagined. When her marriage is put to the ultimate test, she must face the possibility that love does not conquer all and that outgrowing the past may be the best thing she can do for her family’s future.

Meanwhile, Jocelyn’s teen son, Sariel, and their neighbor, Dustin, have been like brothers from the time they could crawl, but Dustin isn’t a fan of Sariel’s growing friendship with their new neighbor, Lela. Dustin’s resentment continues to build until one fateful day when he’s confronted with a choice that could cost him his friendship with Sariel and the girl of his dreams.

At the heart of it all is a fiery-tempered six-year-old little boy. Small in stature, but big in dreams, Arlis will stop at nothing to fulfill the dream of a lifetime. But first, he must define what it means to be a superhero and determine whether he has what it takes to play the role.
